This week's screening and what the future holds

I contacted Madman and they allowed us to screen Spirited Away, but (<.< catch) I doubt we should screen licensed anime after this email.

That kinda sucks. But we can work around it. There are plenty of great anime's out there which aren't licensed. I just can't think of any right now.

What about some series that only came out last year or early this year. I don't know when a series is licensed but there may be some that aren't licensed yet. Like how we were able to screen Black Rock Shooter last year 'cause it was only new.

On another note - is the Spirited Away screening going to be this Thursday? KYAH...looks like I might come in after all if it is. (I though I might need to skip this week because I didn't get paid last Friday but I found $50 in my room so might be able to come. :>)

Yeah, it sounds like a good idea to screen current or relatively new series for the subsequent meetings. Even if some of them may be licensed by say, Funimation, that only applies to North America and other countries in its supported regions until Madman gets a hold of it.

And wow, $110 just to screen a Ghibli film... :/

That's a lot. But that's be $110 overall, isn't it?

lol, this is why i was always against the screening of licensed animu and always suggested new/unlicensed media

we're only doing this once. But thank you + sorry for the troubles to ask permission. We will definately and most likely be screening unlicensed stuff afterwards :3

I'm not condoning the idea of watching licensed anime without asking (which is probably slightly ironic since I have DVD full of several burned Studio Ghibli films...okay, my cousin has it at the moment so if anything ever did arise, I'd just pin the blame on him and pretend I knew nothing about the DVDs...), but I'm now slightly curious as to how they would actually enforce this rule (about not screening licensed anime unless you pay...)

@Jazz- Me too, I have one dvd of Spirited Away, then I have a dvd set with most of Ghlibi's movies, bought from China of course. Doesn't work though, it got a bit scratched.

@Suigintou - No, I mean downloaded as in...kind of possibly illegally downloaded...from the Internet...like 95% of my anime.

@Jazz- Lol, well I'm pretty sure my movies are pirated lol.

So will I bring the DVD or not? I'm bringing it anyway!
