New to the ESB? Check out this thread before doing anything else!

Inspired by the popular light novel series titled Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu, Parranoia will implement its own version of the Electronic Summoning Battle (ESB) system onto the forum. There's going to be some slight modifications to the Parranoia's version of the ESB, but the concept and rules will stay similar to its light novels/anime counterpart.

How do I gain ESB points?

As you may have noticed by now, making a post in any of the forum sections besides Announcement and Games & Randomness will automatically increase your ESB points. I will not state how many points you'll get with each post, but one thing I'll say is that each section is different; the least popular sub-sections of the forum will give you more points and vice versa for the popular ones. It's also worth noting that creating a thread will net you a generous amount of points. However, these things can easily be abused for increasing ESB points, so if it's painstakingly obvious that you're posting non-relevant things in a lazy attempt to boost your points, a penalty will be awarded to you.

I know it's been awhile since I have made any mention of the club's ESB system, but I'm still exploring other possibilities outside of forum battles. One idea that I'm particularly interested in is that the ESB could be held in one of the club sessions, and the participant's attack power will be based on their ESB points that they have accumulated on the forum. If anyone has seen the anime, then you may remember that in one of the episodes there was an alternate option to having an electronic summoning battle: a quiz! The first person to get a question wrong is the loser!

I don't know. Perhaps you guys can provide suggestions if anyone is still interested.

Hmm how about this? Correctly guessing the anime in the pictionary game earns you ESB points (around 10points). Your ESB points are your attack and HP, you can attack 1 person once per week and your total HP is the dammage dealt to theirs, the person with the highest ESB points each week will become temporary mod or gets to select what anime we screen or gets to alter the forum colour theme/personal banner/person colour for their name in the chatbox/add emoticons to the custom smiley list/alter your title (the thing below your name eg. cheesey member/admin) or gets a temporary lift on Display picture limits (image greater than 64k large), anyone with 0 ESB points must participate in a punishment game (such as getting your DP and/or signature changed by Haru or the Highest ESB Point Member? Or they have to download and bring the anime that the Highest Point Member selected. Points can also be exchanged for club merchandise (eg. 100 points gets you a club bookmark, 200 gets you a badge, 1,000,000 earns you Haru's PS3) etc, whoever has the greatest number of ESB points at the end of the year earns a prize?

Exchanging ESB points for prizes does sound like a good idea as I'd imagine that may encourage more posting on the forums. Still pondering on how the ESB 'battles' should be implemented since attacking a person each week seems too arbitrary. Maybe something that will require a bit of skills haha (tetris, perhaps? jk)

Well there is a "game" idea i got from gaia kinda, where members are assigned a group (class A-F like baka to test?) and it's best to assign randomly and evenly as we dont have many active posters.
So with each group, their "boss" has a set amount of hp and what you do is try to do as much damage to the group's boss (because it guards the members) by diminishing opponent's members ESB so for example userA has 20 ESB and userB has 200, userB can choose to use 20 ESB points to annihilate userA thus doing 20 damage to group A. Alternatively if you have a smaller amount of ESB you can choose to weaken a stronger member however doing so will not do damage to the other team <---- hmm stratch this thought, it will be diadvantaging people with low ESB
if members want to gain back their ESB they have to take a test/quiz, to gain back some ESB but this test/quiz only appears on battle day.
Also we need a spam monster to catch people spamming in the high ESB earning threads, show them a freaky picture, and reduce their ESB 8D
battle ends when there is one group that survives the battle having defeated the others!

Make 4 houses like Harry Potter and whichever has the highest points at the end of the year earns a prize?

ooh that's a good idea kai~ from the sounds of it, i'll probably need a couple of ESB moderators since managing this system may prove to be a lot of work. and also separating participants into classes/houses is something that will definitely be implemented.

continuing on Otoha's suggestion, maybe the participating members, or rather 'classes' will have top priority when there's a competitive event. (eg. the group with the highest aggregate points will be allowed a 5 minute head start in the amazing race)
