Want to be featured in Jenta as an upcoming mangaka?

Ok, so I delayed in checking the club hotmail inbox...*.* but luckily there was only two unread items and to my surprise I found this offer:

My name is April, and I’m from University of Sydney, although please don’t hold that against me.
I’m writing because I’m working with Jenta (a weekly Japanese newspaper) to organise a regular manga section featuring locally-residing artists.

As you are a manga-ka club, I was wondering whether some of your members would be interested in participating.

I’ve included a short spiel below – it would be awesome if you could send it out through your mailing list/post it on your website, if you feel OK with that.

Calling All Aspiring Mangaka!

Ever wanted the chance to see your work in print? Jenta wants your original manga!

Jenta is Sydney’s leading weekly Japanese newspaper, with 28,000 copies in circulation each month.

From mid-September, Jenta is planning to publish one amateur manga every week as part of a campaign to appeal to English-speaking audiences. (Details and deadlines TBC, but manga should be in English and will be approximately one A4 page in size.)

We are currently trying to gauge whether there is sufficient interest for the manga project to go ahead.

So, whether you are an up-and-coming manga-ka looking for a platform for exposure, or simply want bragging rights among your friends for getting your hobby published, we want to hear from you!
If you think you would be interested in participating, please shoot me an e-mail/SMS me/Facebook me and introduce yourself. We’re not formally collecting submissions yet, but any examples of your work would be much appreciated!

Awesome. I must partake in this occasion. I want my manga project brought to life!! That's my dream but alas, the first one-shot I'm making is on hiatus thanks to uni life... *sigh*

Not to mention, it's kinda hard making a one-shot manga by myself. Could use some help...

But being in Jenta as an upcoming mangaka would be the first step to realizing my ambition and dream!

Wow thats cool... just curious though if its a japanese newspaper won't the manga need to be written in jap? Makes me wish i could draw... or maybe i'll do a badly scribbled 4-koma XD

Sounds like a great opportunity for the manga artists in our club! If only I could draw... =p

I reckon 4-komas would be allowed too! I guess they didn't want people to write in Jap because its about local mangaka here in Australia (maybe its a Jap-Aus newspaper like Australian Chinese Daily).
If people feel nervous setting out by themselves, we could probably set up a mangaka team, get everyone to work together on a collaboration manga. <--- hope that works too.

How about this for a manga?

A parody of astroboy, comedy, action, harem, ecchi genre: Synopsis is that some professor dude discovers that the ultimate source of power and energy is NOT love but lust since people will go to amazing lengths to have sex. He then builds a robot called "Mighty Adam" (as apposed to mighty atom which is astroboys jap name). Adam seems like your average student but his true powers flourish when he thinks/sees ecchi things. After the earth is invaded by aliens he fights them off and is awarded an ever growing harem by the government in order to increase his power and keep him happy, but since he's a robot all he can do is look...
